Special offers

On this page you can find out about any special offers that we’re running, allowing you to save money on the cost of your learning with NEC.

Course bundle: English and Maths for Early Years

Enrol on any of our Early Years Educator courses and you can add I/GCSE English and maths to your enrolment with a discount of £100 off each subject.

This offer is open to both new learners who enrol for the first time and existing learners already working through these courses, making it easier for you to gain all the crucial qualifications you'll need to begin or progress your career in Early Years Education.

This offer is only available when paying in full and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Gift vouchers

Distance learning really can change lives. Help make that change for someone you know with a gift voucher from NEC. You can give a friend or relative the opportunity to learn something new by buying or contributing towards the cost of any course in our catalogue.

Gift vouchers are available in denominations of £25, £50 or £100.

Each year, we help thousands of people get back into education and gain that all-important qualification – with one of our gift vouchers, you can help someone do that as well. Call our course advisers 0800 389 2839 to find out more about our gift vouchers, or email us at info@nec.ac.uk.

The following terms and conditions apply to our gift vouchers:

  • Gift vouchers can only be purchased for NEC's distance learning courses, and are not available for purchase towards teacher and trainer resources
  • Gift vouchers must be redeemed within 12 months of purchase
  • Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash or used to pay outstanding balances
  • NEC reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of the gift vouchers at any time.
NUS extra

NEC students are eligible for an NUS extra card, which you can buy from the National Union of Students. NUS extra card holders have access to a huge variety of special offers and discounts that help you to save while you study, such as money off your rail fare, restaurant bill or cinema ticket. For full details on how to get your NUS extra card and what deals are on offer, visit the NUS extra website.

Unionlearn

Thanks to a long-standing agreement between NEC and unionlearn, trade unionists are entitled to a 10% discount on the cost of our courses. If you’re a member of a trade union, simply let us know when you enrol and we’ll reduce the cost of your course accordingly.

Home educators family discount

If you are educating your children at home, you will receive a discount off any NEC course when paying in full. This is extended to all the family enrolling at the same time, whether that be siblings or parent and child. The discount is given based on the number of courses as follows:

Up to 4 courses 10%
5-8 courses 15%
9 or more courses 20%

A discount will be given at the point of enrolment and not retrospectively, not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. Please call our course advice team on 0800 389 2839 to discuss your particular needs.

Forces

Members of the armed forces studying with us can take advantage of two sources of funding: the Standard Learning Credit (SLC) scheme and the Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme.

The SLC scheme allows military personnel to obtain financial assistance for distance learning courses up to Level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), which is equivalent to GCSEs and IGCSEs, and also applies to some of our professional qualifications.

You’ll need to enrol on the SLC scheme before enrolling on a course: to do this visit your resettlement and education coordinator (or equivalent) to complete the necessary forms and check that your course is eligible for funding. If it is, you’ll be able to claim 80% of the cost of your course, up to a maximum of £175, through the scheme.

The ELC scheme is a similar programme that awards funding for qualifications at Level 3 (for example A levels) and above on the NQF.

There are a number of factors that affect funding applications: visit the ELC Administration Service website to find out more.
