Today’s guest blog has been written by AS/A Level Further Maths lead tutor and course developer Sally Everitt.
So…Can you study Further Maths through distance learning?
The short answer is ‘Yes, you can!’. However, as leading questions go this one could lead to a very short blog post. Another answer is, ‘No, you couldn’t… until now’. Or at least not one as extensive, innovative and flexible as NECs.
Developed using MEI (Maths in Education and Industry) IntegralⓇ online learning materials, NECs Further Maths course is designed so that it can run alongside your study of AS/A level mathematics or independently. You will have your own subject specialist tutor who will be able to support and guide you through the course material, as well as the student support team who will help you with exam entries and other aspects of distance learning. The flexibility of our new course means you can learn anywhere, anytime.
Recently listed by The Russell Group as a facilitating subject, courses such as AS/A-level Further Maths are considered to be hugely beneficial by universities and employers when considering potential student or employee credentials Further Maths is highly recommended if wishing to pursue a career in many specialist fields, including:
- Engineering
- Computer science
- Mathematics
This is a great opportunity for those who haven’t had the chance to study Further Maths at school or college and is an excellent option for students applying to university or wishing to extend their mathematical skills.
Having worked on the development of this course and in my ongoing role with NEC as lead tutor for this subject, I am confident in my original answer to the question ‘can you study further maths through distance learning?’, is an emphatic yes. This unique model will open the doors to thousands of students looking to develop their mathematical skills and further their career opportunities.
Or, to put it another way: NEC + great resources + expert tutors = An excellent way to study Further Maths.
