How to apply to university:

When can I start my application to go to university in 2024?

When it comes to university application times, for most universities in the UK, applications open in the September of the year before you plan to attend. This means that for students hoping to study in the year 2024, applications will open in September of 2023. Students who register on the UCAS Hub can start preparing their application from May 2023. 

To ensure you don’t miss any deadlines, check for specific dates from the universities and courses you are interested in.

How many universities can I apply to?

When applying through UCAS, you can apply to up to five different universities. Use this opportunity to apply to a mix of ambitious and more realistic choices to increase your chances of receiving multiple offers.

Do universities look at my GCSEs?

Yes! You may be surprised, but when going through applications, universities do consider your GCSE results. Keep in mind that although GCSEs may not carry as much weight as A level results, they still provide universities with valuable insight into your educational background and skills.

Do universities look at A levels?

Even more so than GCSE results, your A levels and any other equivalent qualifications are a significant factor during university applications. A level results demonstrate your academic achievements and can help universities determine whether you meet the entry requirements and would be a good match for the course you wish to study.

Can I go to university without GCSEs and A levels?

Although applying to universities without GCSE or A levels is likely to be more difficult, some universities may consider other qualifications. Elements like work experience and foundation courses can help your application show more potential.
