A scholarship is an award or payment made to support a student’s education, awarded on the basis of academic or other achievement.

About these terms

Please also refer to NEC’s general enrolment Terms and Conditions. 

If successful, you will be registered and enrolled with us as an NEC student. You must abide by our Charter, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations and Policies in force.

We may make changes to these Terms from time to time and the version that is applicable to you will be those that were in force at the date of your first enrolment with us.  

If you wish to decline a scholarship offer from us prior to enrolling with NEC, please email marketing@nec.ac.uk. We will then withdraw our scholarship offer and confirm this in writing. Any offer of a place on one of our courses would not be affected.  

Eligibility Criteria

NEC will make an informed decision on each application and decide whether the application has been successful and the funding that will be provided.

If we are of the reasonable view that you do not meet our Eligibility Criteria and you wish to appeal, we will ask you to provide us with such proof as we deem necessary to make a new assessment. You must supply us with the requested evidence as soon as reasonably possible.  

Receiving the Scholarship

NEC will make an informed decision on each application and decide whether the application has been successful and the funding that will be provided. 

Successful applicants of the Russell Kane Scholarship will be offered enrolment on up to 5 GCSE courses or 3 A level courses provided through the National Extension College. The successful applicants will also be offered to sit their examinations on each subject through NEC’s exam service. You can find out more about NEC’s exam service on our examinations page.

• The chosen courses have to be supplied through the National Extension College and studied online.
• Examinations must be sat through our exams service and abide by our exams service terms and conditions.
• Structured Fast Track A levels are not included in this offer.

Repayment of the Scholarship  

In the event that your Scholarship is removed, you will be liable to pay us the monetary amount equating to your Scholarship, immediately on demand.  

If we have made an error in calculating your Scholarship and as a result you have received any funds to which you were not entitled, we may request that you repay us the amount overpaid and you will be liable to repay it to us within 30 days of our demand.  

In addition to any other rights we may have at law to take action against you for recovery or repayment, the amount so outstanding will be treated by us as a sum due to us in accordance with our General Regulations on Fees and Charges. 

Marketing and Promotion   

You may be required to make yourself available at reasonable notice for any publicity and marketing campaigns which we may want to run in connection with our scholarship schemes, which may include but not be limited to public appearances, speeches, photographs, blogging and/tweeting or interviews.  

How We May Use Your Personal Information  

We will use the personal information you provide to us to administer the Scholarship scheme. We will retain all documents we receive in connection with the Scholarship scheme along with your other student records in accordance with our Data Protection Policy

Once you are enrolled with NEC, the college will contact you using the contact details provided upon enrolment. It is your responsibility to check this account regularly for important information regarding your Scholarship, and any other requests relating to the Scholarships scheme.

We may, at any time, and at our sole discretion, modify these Terms and Conditions with or without notice to the User. Any such modification will be effective immediately upon public posting. Your continued use of our Service and this Site following any such modification constitutes your acceptance of these modified Terms.
